Moving in to College Accommodation -  Funding for 2009-10


Criteria

Precedence is given to students who live the furthest from the College thereby making it difficult for them to travel on a daily basis.  However, depending on availability it is possible for more local students to be given accommodation.  You MUST be at least sixteen years of age to move in to residence.

Deposits

Before moving in to any College Accommodation a deposit of £200.00 must be paid.  This money is held as collateral should there be any damages to the accommodation. The money is refunded in the Summer following the end of your course. 

Catered Accommodation

(Normally Certficate Level Students)

It is usually students who are under 18 who are allocated catered accommodation, which will be bed, breakfast and evening meal.  The cost of residence for the time you are at College is £ 3845.60.  Normally it is Certificate level students in this category and they apply for funding on the Bursary / EMA Application Form.  The Bursary Administrator will advise if you qualify for a whole bursary or if there is a parental contribution payable.  If there is a contribution to be paid it can be paid by monthly direct debit, please contact our accounts department to organise this.

In some circumstances a certificate level student (who is over 18) may be considered for catered accommodation however they are costed as staying in catered accommodation and are expected to eat their meals in the College Refectory.

Self Catered Accommodation

(Normally HNC/HND Level students)

It is usually students who are over 18 who move in to the self-catering flats.  The cost of staying in this accommodation for the duration of your course is £3078. The preferred method of payment is by monthly direct debit, please contact our accounts department to organise this.
