NC in Activity Tourism (SCQF Level 6)
Overview:
This new course provides you a route to explore and gain employment in the exciting world of Activity Tourism. It has been specifically designed to provide you with an understanding of the range of opportunities and skills required for this fast growing industry.

An overview of the activity tourism industry,

Sustainable Development in Tourism, Ecotourism,
An Introduction to Tourism and Hospitality,
Investigating Activity Tourism,
Introduction to Environmental Awareness
Customer Service,Introduction to Business,
Introduction to Enterprise,
Introduction to Marketing, 1st Aid,
Work Experience.
Duration:
1 academic year. Starts in September 2012.
Career opportunities:
Areas of employment might be at outdoor centres, wildlife tour operators, equine centres and recreational centres
Entry requirements:
Essential - Core Skills at Access level 3 or above. This requirement can be tested at interview.
Desirable:
You should be hard working andenthusiastic and be prepared to get involved in all aspects of the course both practical and classroom based. Good attitudes towards group working would be beneficial, although many opportunities exist to develop these.
Further study:
Progression from this award could be to the HNC Activity Tourism.The experiences gained in this course could also prepare for courses in outdoor education and outdoor pursuits.
