This one year full-time programme concentrates on the technical and practical knowledge required by unit and farm managers.

Entry requirements

Essential

For progressing students - it is essential to have passed the Certificate level of the course above or SVQ level 3 and showing a capability of working at a higher level.

Desirable

For new students - 1 Higher Grade at C or above in Maths, a Science or Geography.  Also 5 Standard Grades at a minimum of grade 3 including Maths, English and a Science
- At least one year of practical agricultural work or equivalent experience
- Entry can be considered with a high level of practical experience at the discretion of the interviewer

Progression 

Students successfully completing this course would normally be eligible to enter the 2nd year of the HND Agriculture programme.

Additional information

An integral part of the course is 4 weeks work experience (usually a lambing placement)

Study tour to France.  There is the opportunity to gain scholarship to America to study agriculture in the Mid West.
