HND in Agriculture (SCQF Level 8)

Overview: 

This two year full-time programme is suited to anyone wishing to pursue a career in farm management, ancillary industries or other areas of work in the rural sector requiring the application of scientific principles and technology.

Quality and Processing of Agricultural Produce,
Mechanisation of Crop and Livestock Production,
Pasture Management and Plant Protection,
Farm Buildings and Controlled Environments,
Farm Manures, Wastes and the Environment,
Organic Production, Livestock Nutrition and
Management Systems, Economics and
Marketing, Diversification of Rural Businesses,
Using Accounts to analyse business performance.
Planning, Budgeting and Controlling a Business,
Produce a business plan for a Case Study Farm.
This course has a final examination.

Duration:

1 academic year. Starts in September.

Career opportunities:

There are opportunities in farming and enterprise
management as well as marketing, sales, contracting and consultancy.

Entry requirements:

For new students - HNC is the first year of the HND two year course. 

Further study:

Students successfully completing this course would be eligible to progress to a BSc (bachelor of Science) at other academic institutions.
