Overview:

This course introduces many of thesubjects and principles that form the basis of countryside management.

HNC Graded unit.

Duration:

1 academic year. Starts in September.

Career opportunities:

Many HNC students extend their studies to two years to obtain the HND in Countryside Management. Some students gain employment as Seasonal Countryside Rangers and then progress to fulltime posts. Other students have gone on to work as stockmen or on specific environmental projects such as seabird conservation.

Entry requirements:

For progressing students, it is essential to have passed the Certificate in Environmental and Countryside Practices.

For new students - 1 Higher Grade at C or above,preferably in Biology, Geography, History or Geology. A mature outlook is vital for this course.

Desirable - A range of outdoor experiences through employment, volunteering or leisure activities. Exceptional entry may be possible at the discretion of the College.
