Oatridge College representatives will be at hand on the second day of the "Whither Further and Higher Education?" ISCO Conference which will take place on 8th and 9th September at Westerwood Hotel in Cumbernauld.
ISCO is part of The Inspiring Futures Foundation, a not for profit
organisation with charitable status providing career guidance to young
people in the age range 14-23, and especially those destined for Higher
Education and the professions. You can see more about our work with
young people if you visit the website at http://www.inspiringfutures.org.uk/.
Each year in Scotland they hold a conference for heads and careers
teachers from our member schools. The theme for this year's conference,
to be held at the Westerwood Hotel, Cumbernauld, on Thursday and Friday
8th and 9th September is "Whither Further and Higher Education?". The
aim of the conference is to make those in our schools concerned with
career information, advice and guidance aware of the current issues
surrounding the further and higher education sectors.
This year keynote speakers include Linda McKay,
Principal of Forth Valley College and Prof Ian Diamond, Principal of
Aberdeen University, and other speakers include the incoming President
of the National Union of Students in Scotland, Robin Parker who will
give the views of the student body. It promises to be a lively and
interesting conference. In addition the Cabinet Secretary for Education
and Lifelong Learning, Michael Russell MSP has provisionally agreed to
address the conference subject to Parliamentary business.
The conference will include an exhibition area on the 9th September and Oatridge College will be part of it.
