College welcomes Danish students
08 January 2008
More than 60 Danish agricultural students are to visit the College during January to study Scottish farming methods.
The first group of 20 arrived shortly after New Year to spend a week attending classes, working on the Oatridge farm and carrying out a packed programme of visits to other farms and agriculture-related businesses.
Danish farms tend to specialise in dairy, pig and poultry production, so a visit to the Dandie family's Learielaw Farm near Broxburn, with its beef cattle herd, was of particular interest.
The students are all studying for the equivelant of the Scottish Higher National Certificate or Higher National Diploma and are undertaking one or two year courses, combined with work experience on farms.
