Conference looks for “Educational entrepreneurs”

01 December 2011

Oatridge has provided the venue for a major conference looking at how communities, social enterprises and the enormous resources of the Internet can be harnessed to provide an additional and different approach to learning in Scotland.

Colin Campbell smallDelegates from local authorities, schools, colleges and host of "Third Sector" organisations attended the event, which was organised by Colin Campbell (Pictured) of Edinburgh-based Assist Social Capital.

The other keynote speakers were Rory MacLeod of the Standards Council for Community Learning and Development (CLD) and Adrian Kitchen, the Director for Business and Curriculum Development at Oatridge.

Colin Campbell said: "We know that if you want a competitive country you need to educate people, but on the other hand, we have a lack of funds. We are at a crossroads and if we can begin to get people to work together, to talk about it and hear about those who are already delivering new stuff, then a conference like this could provide a signpost for the future."
