SNEC chosen as Olympic training venue

12 March 2008

Carson Jones, the Director of the Scottish National Equestrian Centre at Oatridge College, has seen one of his greatest ambitions come a step closer to reality. When he took up the job he said he wanted to make the SNEC a centre of excellence and a focus for all equestrian sport in Scotland and "One day see Olympic teams training here". It has now been officially announced the the Centre will be on the list of approved training camps for the Games in London in 2012. It is the only equine facility in Scotland to be selected.

The drive is now underway to market  the superb facilities and attract the attention of Olympic and Paralympic equestrians around the world. Carson Jones says: "It's a very exciting prospect, because it will help put the SNEC, West Lothian and Scotland on the equine map, and if we are successful in bringing Olympic riders here it will be tremendous for the local economy."
