Students in 24-hour "forge-athon"

Students go hammer and tongs for charity
Farriery and blacksmithing students at Oatridge College in West Lothian have gone hammer and tongs around the clock to raise hundreds of pounds for local charities.
The 24-hour "forge-athon" was the idea of 22 students training to prepare them for jobs in the industry. They worked in shifts to complete orders for staff and visitors to a College Open Day, making range of hand-forged items, from key rings to boot holders and wine racks made from discarded horse shoes.
By the end of the day they were tired but buoyed by the fact that they had taken in more than £260 in cash, with much more to come.
