SRUC Oatridge campus offers training & examination for both NPTC & Lantra accredited chainsaw courses. All of our chainsaw courses are ILA approved.
Lantra courses
These courses take 4 days and consist of Integrated Training & Assessment. This certificate is suitable for someone who intends to use the chainsaw for business, domestic or leisure activities, but does not intend to work in forestry or arboricultural activities or work on Forest Enterprise land, or fell material above 200mm in diameter.
We now offer a LANTRA Awards refresher chainsaw course which runs for 2 days at a cost of £275. For further details and dates contact Moira Montgomery on 01506 864807.
NPTC courses
These courses take 5 days with an additional assessment day. They are intended for someone who anticipates seeking contractual work in professional forestry, amenity or utility arboriculture activities which is likely, immediately, or at some future date, to involve felling trees over 200mm and/or aerial tree work.
Protective Clothing & Equipment
Candidates are expected to bring all their own protective clothing which may be obtained from Livingston Garden Machinery, located within Williamson's Garden Centre in Uphall.
