Short course
Suntrap, at Gogarbank near Edinburgh, was bequethed to the National Trust for Scotland and Lothian Regional Council in 1972, on the death of George Boyd Anderson, a wealthy rubber planter, philanthropist and keen amateur gardener.
Since 1984, the south-facing site has been part of Oatridge College, looked after and developed by staff with help from the Friends of Suntrap Edinburgh, which supports the garden and the college.
In 2001 Suntrap became a Centre for Lifelong Learning
In association with the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society, Suntrap regularly runs weekly courses, lasting 10 or 11 weeks, for amateurs who share George Boyd Anderson's passion for gardening, and a series of afternoon workshops covering every aspect of gardening. We also run a series of workshops where all 4 workshops (pruning, herbaceous borders, vegetable growing and containers & baskets) can be booked for £34, a saving of £6.
