Transition communities (which include cities, villages, islands, towns and universities) work to reduce their reliance on oil and their carbon footprint and to increase their economic and social resilience. The Scottish Transition network is a growing community of interest which supports and promotes these ideas and most importantly puts them into practical action. http://www.transitionscotland.org/
