As a nation of pet lovers we always want to do the best for our animals.
The dog agility classes are held in conjunction with The Broxburn Dog Training Club and are tremendous fun. A real bond is developed between dog & handler and has the added bonus of keeping you both fit!!
Sam Butchart - "Our training format consists of a 10 week Basic Introduction, followed by a further 10 weeks of training that pieces together and compliments the Basic Introduction Course.
After these 20 weeks it is then entirely up to the handler if they wish to go further into the sport by training up for competition level, or stay as a Pet Training member, we feel that there is room for both in our club (after all we all had pets first, agility came second).
Our club welcomes all kinds of dogs i.e. Mini, Midi, Standard. In fact at the this moment in time we have Pointers, Retrievers, Poodles, Spaniels, Jack Russell's, Shelties, Huskies, to mention just a few, and all sorts of mixes, as well as the ever present collies and German shepherds."
This course is mainly for you and your dog to have a bit of fun, in order that we can maintain the fun side there are a few safety factors to take into consideration. This is a farming campus and as such has machinery parked all around. It is also a teaching college with students also milling around.
As such it has been decided for safety reasons that no dog should be off lead unless it is working on the course.
There is an exercise at the side and this is used for the dogs (on lead). You must also clean up after your dog (bags are supplied if you don't have any) and deposited in the bins provided. Toilets are open and these are easily accessible (ask us where). Please also remember that the dog's safety is paramount here, so if someone asks you to do something with your dog that you are not sure of -THEN PLEASE ASK. If you have any further questions then please ask your tutor on the night.
